Lake Erie Fishing Charters
Lake Erie fishing charter boat Captains are United States Coast Guard Licensed.
We go through extensive background checks for your safety before any are ever allowed to test as well as extensive time documented on the water,
extensive exams on safety, firefighting, first aid, rules of the road, reading the weather etc. Captains are thoroughly run through the grinder before the coast guard will issue them a license.
Drug testing, physicals including eyesight, hearing, emotional, medical and physical ability are checked on a regular basis to keep their license active.
This keeps Lake Erie charter fishing captains and all United States Coastguard Licensed Captains healthy and on their toes, drug, and alcohol-free for your safety. Which is understandable as we literally take responsibility for each crew member that charters with us.
There are multiple licenses that can be achieved each requiring lots of personal documentation before being allowed to test.
Ninty percent of Lake Erie charter fishing boats are six packs meaning they are allowed to carry a maximum of six paying customers aboard uninspected charter boats. Inspected boats are built from the ground level up to coast guard specifications to be licensed to carry more than six passengers. This also requires additional safety equipment. Life rafts on the roof, e pirbs, yearly inspections of the boat in the water as well a safety run on the water with coast guard personnel on board. We go through life-saving drills, fire drills, man overboard drills. Coe Vanna operates two coast guard inspected vessels licensed to carry up to twelve fishermen per boat. Which is a huge saving dollar wise for anyone with more than six people in their fishing party.
