Smallmouth bass jump,
twist and turn making them the
hardest fighting fish in Lake
Erie.These fish are
plentiful all around Lake Erie's Western Basin island's and
reefs. Rocky structures are key with smallmouth, which is why the
near shore reef complex right off my marina makes for amazing
smallmouth fishing, with walleye nearby for great combo
trips. Smallmouth
Bass catches currently average
14-17 inches, with many larger fish in the 18-20 inch range. Ohio's
State Record smallmouth bass was
caught here in Lake Erie's Western Basin islands area, weighing in at 9.5 lbs.
and 23.5 inches in length!
